Fabric Wall Coverings
Paper backing fabric for wall coverings
BR by Design's paper backing adds a range of commercial grade paper that turns almost any fabric into a custom wallpaper or wallcovering. Paper backing adds substance and body, as well as a protective moisture barrier between the fabric and the wall.
Paper backing protects the fabric, so the installation adhesive does not seep into the fabric. And makes the fabric easier to work with when cutting and pasting onto the wall. Paper fabric backing is ideal for concealing blemishes on wall surfaces.
Paper backed fabric acts as an acoustical aide by dampening sound. Paper backed fabric also provides additional wall insulating properties to help reduce energy costs associated with heating and cooling.
Why use paper backing when hanging fabric as a wallcovering?
Fabric covered walls create a luxurious effect and offer unique options for patterns and textures on vertical surfaces. However, it is not recommended that fabric be applied directly to the wall without proper backing.
By applying the proper backing beforehand, certain issues can be minimised. For example as fabrics react to heat and humidity they can sag and bubble. Also, adhesives can seep through and stain the face of the fabric.
